“The Prince of Asgard is not a joke”: Thor 5 Bringing Back Taika Waititi After Love and Thunder Disaster Enrages Fans, Beg Marvel to Honor Chris Hemsworth

Thor: Love and Thunder, released in 2022, took a slightly different take to the legendary Marvel character. Taika Waititi directed the first two Thor films and is currently working on the third. Many fans complained that Thor: Love and Thunder felt like a rehash of 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, so Waititi now has a chance to prove them wrong. Waititi is under a lot of pressure with expectations at an all-time high because if he wrecks this one, the fans would not forgive him. Waititi’s third Thor film will be the franchise’s fifth installment and will supposedly feature a foe bigger than Hela. Taika Waititi will direct Thor 5. Taika Waititi, the director of the fourth Thor film, has stated that he will work on the next episode of the Thor franchise. Thor: Love and Thunder was a letdown for many fans, but the forthcoming Thor film will give Waititi a chance to redeem himself. Waititi revealed his plans for the franchise’s future in the upcoming Marvel’s Thor 4: Love and Thunder Movie Special book. The director will strive to pit Thor against “more and more outlandish and crazy beasts, monsters, and aliens” while remaining faithful to the comic book material. Fans were dismayed to learn that Waititi would be returning to the project. Many fans argued that the filmmaker squandered Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, who had far more potential.

Fans appear dissatisfied with Waititi’s vision, and there are solid reasons behind this. It wasn’t just Gorr the God Butcher, but it also felt like Thor was marginalized in his own film. Fans want to see a more serious take on the character rather than a needless comedy. Waititi also discussed the villain in the next Thor film in the Special edition, stating that it will not be weaker than Hela. “What is left to do to him? It’s got to be something that feels like it’s carrying on with the evolution of the character, but still in a very fun way and still giving him things to come up against that feel like they’re building on the obstacles that he has to overcome. I don’t think we can have a villain that’s weaker than Hela. I feel like we need to step up from there and add a villain that’s somehow more formidable.” Marvel Studios has not officially set a release date for Thor 5, although it is slated to hit theaters in early 2027.
