Following Roger Waters’ support for Putin in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, David Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson came to X to call him out and accuse him of anti-Semitism. The musician revealed whether he will sue Samson for her charges in a recent Globo interview. Waters stated: “No, I’m not taking legal action.” Polly’s post came shortly after Roger gave an interview to Berliner Zeitung in which he made remarks supportive of Russia and Putin. She stated:
“Unfortunately, Roger Waters, you are antisemitic to your core.” A Putin apologist as well as a liar, thief, hypocrite, tax evader, lip-synching, sexist, sick-with-envy megalomaniac. Enough with the foolishness.” Although Waters stated during the interview that he would not sue Polly for defamation, when asked if he could see himself contacting Gilmour again, the singer replied: “What do you think?” During the Globo Interview, Rogers not only answered topics that made news, but he also discussed his other bandmates and how he has attempted to honor what they done in Pink Floyd. He elaborated:
“‘Redux’ also pays homage to what Nick (Mason), Rick (Wright), David (Gilmour), and I did in 1973.” ‘Great Gig in the Sky,’ and Rick’s chords on ‘Us and Them,’ are both fantastic. There are amazing guitar solos by David for ‘Money’ and ‘Time.’ And Nicky, well, Nicky, isn’t he? A brilliant drummer who is underappreciated and, most importantly, my best friend.” The artist expressed gratitude for the people in his life and acknowledged that, at the end of the day, he is only human. He went on to say: “I’m 80 years old, dude.” I have some good pals, and when I say good, I mean it. What an honor! I finally discovered my soul mate, Kamilah, who gives me the strength to battle on. And if it upsets me now and then, so be it. I’m sure people are disappointed in me at times, but we’re only human.”
