Polly Samson, David Gilmour’s wife, recently responded to Roger Waters fans’ outrage after revealing Pink Floyd did not wish the bassist a happy birthday on X. Pink Floyd faced backlash after celebrating Roger’s birthday on September 6 on the band’s official X account. However, following the anti-Waters remarks, Samson stated that the play had no aim of celebrating it: “They didn’t even wish him a happy birthday.” You are incorrect.” Following that tweet, a Waters fan responded to Polly by writing: “Imagine being so involved in your husband’s drama that every time you see someone being negative about Roger, you validate them on his goddamn motherf*cking birthday!” Roger is done with this drama, but you aren’t, because here we are.” Samson quickly responded, saying: “Imagine yourself as a dim and/or misogynistic fanboy who believes this isn’t about pro-Putin propaganda and antisemitism.” Samson and Waters’ verbal spat began a few months ago when Polly referred to Roger as a “megalomaniac” and called him an anti-semite.
However, the rocker responded with his own sarcastic remark, saying in one of his live performances, ‘All I have to say about Polly Samson is: imagine waking up to that every morning.’ Then, in response to Waters’ comments, Gilmour stated on X that it was ‘great’ to wake up to Samson every morning. Waters recently re-invigorated the debate by explaining if he’d sue Samson and why the verbal spat between them had grown tiresome.
