Since the release of their studio album 2020 three years ago, Bon Jovi has not released any new music; however, this week, the New Jersey rockers want to rectify that by releasing a brand-new holiday song. The group just made the announcement, “We’ve got an early Christmas present for you!” on social media. This Friday marks the release of our brand-new original holiday song, “Christmas Isn’t Christmas.” A link to pre-download the song on Spotify and Apple Music is also included in the article.
The post also includes two images of the band. According to the Asbury Park Press, the first photo depicts Jon Bon and his bandmates working on the song in what appears to be a church nave and Ocean Way Nashville Recording Studios. The members of the band can be seen in the second picture together with Denzel “Santa” Irwin, the bearded proprietor of Santa’s Pub in Nashville. In a recent Not These Two Fucking Guys podcast episode, guitarist Phil X of Bon Jovi disclosed that the group intended to travel to Nashville shortly in order to begin recording new songs that Jon Bon Jovi had recently composed for a potential album.
After clicking the link to pre-save “Christmas Isn’t Christmas,” fans may join a contest to win one of three autographed versions of the brand-new Bon Jovi Monopoly game. The $49.99 board game honors the band’s 40th anniversary and features properties, tokens, and other components influenced by Bon Jovi’s past. It is available for pre-order via the band’s online store. The six collectible tokens included with the game are modeled after various iconic images from Bon Jovi, including the band’s home state of New Jersey, the band’s heart-and-dagger logo, the smirk face from the Have a Nice Day album cover, the Superman logo that Jon Bon Jovi has tattooed on his left shoulder, and Jon’s signature acoustic guitar.
A 1994 Christmas single by Bon Jovi, “Please Come Home for Christmas,” was a cover of a Charles Brown song from the 1960s. Originally released as a solo Jon Bon Jovi song, the song was originally included in the 1992 compilation album A Very Special Christmas 2. The song was published by the band as a Christmas single, and in 1994 it reached its highest position of No. 7 on the UK chart. A Jon Bon Jovi Christmas, a three-song solo holiday EP that Jon Bon Jovi published in December 2020, is only accessible on streaming and digital platforms. It featured three covers: “Christmas All Over Again” by Tom Petty, “Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues, and “If I Get Home on Christmas Day,” an Elvis Presley song from 1971.
