David Gilmour has stated that he would want to cover a song from the 2000s. During a Q&A session with fans, the Progressive Rock great was asked whether there was a new song by another artist that he would like to cover someday. “‘Crazy’ by Gnarls Barkley,” he said, perplexed. We did that a lot during soundcheck. It was fantastic.”
According to the Pink Floyd member, he performed that song with his band during his solo tour soundchecks. He even performed the lyrics, and there are numerous videos of him doing so.
The combo created in 2003 by vocalist CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse had their biggest hit with “Crazy.” The song was included on their debut studio album “St. Elsewhere” in 2006. The single reached number one on numerous charts around the world. It also peaked at number two on the influential Billboard 200 chart at the time. Surprisingly, the song was included on Rolling Stone’s list of the top songs of all time in 2021. It was positioned at position 307. Only 5 positions before Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”. CeeLo Green discussed the song’s success in an interview with The Song TV in 2020. (Rock and Roll Garage) “The success of ‘Crazy’ was life-changing on a personal and professional level.” I didn’t have a single expectation. ‘Crazy’ is just one of those tunes that ultimately caught my attention and turned out to be a universal song.”

Gnarls Barkley was active from 2003 to 2010, when they took a break. They have only two studio albums to their credit: “St. Elsewhere” (2006) and “The Odd Couple” (2008). Green has released four studio albums and two with the band Goodie Mob since 2010.
