David Gilmour has stated that he would want to cover a song from the 2000s

David Gilmour, the guitarist and singer, joined Pink Floyd in 1967 and became a crucial part of the band’s sound in the 1970s, generating fantastic music pieces that helped the band expand into one of the best-selling bands of all time. They have sold over 250 million records worldwide, owing primarily to albums such as “Dark Side of the Moon” (1973), “Wish You Were Here” (1975), and “The Wall” (1979). Despite being a very talented musician, Gilmour is always listening to new artists and even disclosed which 00s Pop tune he loved and would consider covering.

David Gilmour has stated that he would want to cover a song from the 2000s. Pop music, in particular, is frequently a mash-up of many distinct styles, but with the goal of making the sound more easy and accessible to the public. David Gilmour was still promoting his solo album “On an Island” from the previous year in 2007. During a Q&A session with fans, the Progressive Rock great was asked whether there was a new song by another artist that he would like to cover someday. “‘Crazy’ by Gnarls Barkley,” he said, perplexed. We did that a lot during soundcheck. It was fantastic.”

According to the Pink Floyd member, he performed that song with his band during his solo tour soundchecks. He even performed the lyrics, and there are numerous videos of him doing so.

The combo created in 2003 by vocalist CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse had their biggest hit with “Crazy.” The song was included on their debut studio album “St. Elsewhere” in 2006. The single reached number one on numerous charts around the world. It also peaked at number two on the influential Billboard 200 chart at the time. Surprisingly, the song was included on Rolling Stone’s list of the top songs of all time in 2021. It was positioned at position 307. Only 5 positions before Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”. CeeLo Green discussed the song’s success in an interview with The Song TV in 2020. Gnarls Barkley was active from 2003 to 2010, when they took a break. They have only two studio albums to their credit: “St. Elsewhere” (2006) and “The Odd Couple” (2008).
