Geddy Lee, a founding member of Rush and a bassist, singer, and keyboardist, has announced the first dates for a spoken-word tour in support of the November 14 release of his book, “My Effin’ Life.” The initial events will take place in Wolverhampton, Sheffield, Glasgow, Portsmouth, and London in December of next year. “Writing this book required a lot of time spent in the past. I’ve always looked forward rather than backward, which is why I’ve put off doing this kind of stuff for so long. Being a band member for all those years was comforting because it was a constant. It seemed to last forever. The next record, the next set design, the next tour—there was always unfinished business. My life has been centered around it. I can only hope that writing this book will free me to return to what I do and love most, Geddy Lee said. “But you need a lot more drive to progress in the world of music without the comfort of your comrades.
